What is JoyFit???

JoyFit is a high intensity Cardio Fitness Dance Aerobics-ish Dance Class. Basically it is an hour of Joy! We have students ages 12 to 80 who attend and love class. The class is loud, fast, fun, emotional, freeing, hard and most importantly JOYFUL! JoyFit regulars all agree that it takes a class or two before you feel like you can follow along the whole time but that is exactly why this fitness class is different then all that have come before it. The dances are choreographed and tend to lean towards the dancier side of fitness, however, so many people come for that hour and follow along when they want to or make up their own moves and creative sweaty dance fun if what we are doing isn’t their thing. JoyFit gives a workout physically, of course, but also mentally, emotionally and most importantly, spiritually.

Class Location- Jubilation- 2800 Lafayette Road, Portsmouth, NH 03801- Located in the plaza with the Beach plum on Route 1. The entrance is the door in the corner between the Nail Salon and the Rep Studios. Once in the door you will see the double doors for Jubilation at the end of the hallway.

How do I sign up?

This is the easiest path to class. Just be sure to check the schedule for the month to confirm that class is happening and come on in!
Drop in classes are $30.
Your first class is donation only!
Sign up for the classes on the final day of the month to receive the Early Bird Special for the following month’s classes.
With this special stretch class is $10 & JoyFit is $20 a class.

For $250 you will get a Class Card good for 10 JoyFit or Stretch classes to use whenever you choose. Pay for this at ANYTIME, there is no deadline and the 10 classes will not expire unless DSC does.

Meet your instructor

Jo Meallo is an American dancer, dance instructor, choreographer and director specializing in musical theatre dance, tap, jazz, and lyrical. They are best known in Northern New England for their work at The Seacoast Repertory Theatre, Prescott Park Arts Festival, The Palace Theatre, The Rochester Opera House and The University of New Hampshire. They have directed and choreographed hundreds of productions. Locally they have taught Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Musical Theatre, Lyrical Dance and Color Guard at Steppin’ Out Dance Academy (Kingston, NH), Dance Visions (Manchester, NH), UNH (Durham, NH) and Simmons College (Boston, MA). Jo received a BA in Theatre from The University of New Hampshire in 2006. In 2018 Jo Co-Founded DownStage Centre for the Arts, a safe and creative environment for teens and adults to explore the art of live musical theatre production.
